How Are Cellular Respiration & Photosynthesis Almost Opposite Processes?
November 15, 2011 at 9:42 pm
well cellular respiration is more about taking energy out and photosynthesis is about taking the energy in

Cellular Respiration and Photosynthesis are almost opposite processes because Photosynthesis carries 2 phases, light and dark reactions and Cellular Respiration has three phases Glycolysis, Citric Acid and Electron Transmit System (ETC).

Cellular Respiration and Photosynthesis are almost opposite processes because photosynthesis removes carbon dioxide from the atmosphere while cellular respiration puts back carbon dioxide. Cellular respiration uses oxygen and has it’s waste product of carbon dioxide (CO2). Photosynthesis uses carbon dioxide and has it’s waste product of oxygen (O2).

I agree with everyone thus far. Photosynthesis has 2 phases which are the dark and light reactions and it’s a process where green plants turn carbon dioxide and water into carbohydrates and oxygen, using light energy trapped by chlorophyll whereas cellular respiration is a metabolic reaction which takes place in the cells of organisms for converting biochemical energy from nutrients into ATP.

Photosynthesis and cellular respiration are almost opposite because photosynthesis takes in CO2 and releases oxygen whereas cellular respiration takes in oxygen and releases CO2.

Photosynthesis is the process of taking in Carbon Dioxide and releasing Oxygen meanwhile, cellular respiration is the process of taking in Oxygen and releasing Carbon Dioxide.

i agree with everyone. The main reasons to why cellular respiration and photosynthesis are almost opposite processes because cellular respiration is more about taking energy OUT and photosynthesis is about taking engery IN and phototsynthesis takes in CO2 and releases oxygen meanwhile cellular respiration takes in oxygen and releases CO2.

Frequently Asked Questions About how are cellular respiration and photosynthesis almost opposite processes
If you have questions that need to be answered about the topic how are cellular respiration and photosynthesis almost opposite processes, then this section may help you solve it.
Is the photosynthetic process the antithesis of cellular respiration?
Energy from the sun enters a plant and is converted into glucose during photosynthesis; some of the energy is used to make ATP in the mitochondria during cellular respiration; and some of the energy is lost to the environment as heat during the two processes.
Are cellular respiration and photosynthesis mutually exclusive?
In photosynthesis, solar energy is harvested as chemical energy through a process that transforms water and carbon dioxide into glucose. Cellular respiration, on a more basic level, is the opposite reaction of photosynthesis.
Quiz: Why are photosynthesis and cellular respiration viewed as opposing processes?
Since photosynthesis removes carbon dioxide from the atmosphere while cellular respiration adds it back, the two processes are almost the exact opposites of one another.
