J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot Is The Latest Company To Somehow Try To Make A Hot Wheels Movie

The Mattel toy company is making some massive cinematic plays, with their upcoming “Barbie” movie being joined by a possible movie based on their popular “Hot Wheels” line of toy cars. Legendary Pictures talked about making a “Hot Wheels” movie all the way back in 2011, with Warner Bros. pushing forward into development later in 2019. It really seemed like it might finally be happening when Neil Widener and Gavin James (the team behind the upcoming “San Andreas 2” and “Now You See Me 3”) were hired to write the script, but today’s latest update all but…

San Andreas 2 Probably Isn't Happening Anymore Says Alexandra Daddario

It looks like The Rock’s dance card just got a little less full. That is because San Andreas 2, a sequel to the hit 2015 disaster movie, is no longer happening. At least according to one of the movie’s stars, Alexandra Daddario, who starred alongside Dwayne Johnson in the flick. It will likely join the giant heap of Hollywood sequels that never came to be.

Alexandra Daddario is currently promoting the release of Die In a Gunfight. During a recent interview, she was asked about the possible San Andreas sequel which, at least at one point, was indeed in development at Warner Bros. For those hoping to see some more disaster movie goodness of this sort, don’t hold your breath. Here’s what Alexandra Daddario had to say about it.

“It was mentioned to me several years ago when I went in to New Line. I don’t think that the exec that

Jason Momoa & The Rock Tried to Make a Movie Together Once, and It Might Still Happen

Aquaman star Jason Momoa is very hopeful that he will one day be able to team-up with fellow Hollywood behemoth and Black Adam star, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson for what would surely be the pinnacle of action movie duos. While the pair have yet to come face-to-face on screen, which Momoa blames on their respective busy schedules, the actor certainly thinks it will happen eventually. Which begs the question, is the big screen even big enough to fit both men at once?

“I met him almost 20 years ago in Hawaii. We tried to get together and make a movie together but it’s just he’s way busier than I am and I’m pretty busy right now so, one of these days!”

Momoa went on to joke that Dwayne Johnson owed him a team-up movie as a favor for sending an adorable birthday message to the WWE superstar’s three-year-old daughter Tia Giana back in April,

  • Den of Geek

Joseph Baxter May 17, 2019

Action thriller Gunpowder Milkshake is putting together an impressive cast, headlined by Guardians of the Galaxy’s Karen Gillan.

Gunpowder Milkshake may sound like an ill-conceived idea for a combustible cold dairy drink, but it’s actually an intriguing action thriller – starring Guardians of the Galaxy and Jumanji actress Karen Gillan – that’s coming to the table with quite the ensemble for what’s shaping up to be a female-fronted assassin mythos.

Studiocanal and The Picture Company are conjuring the big screen project, which will arrive under the direction of internationally debuting helmers in Aharon Keshales and Navot Papushado, who achieved acclaim in their native Israel with the 2013 Hebrew-language horror film, Big Bad Wolves, and 2010 horror offering Rabies. The directorial duo wrote the Gunpowder script with Ehud Lavski.

The scarce early plot details on Gunpowder Milkshake reveal a story centered on a mother-daughter assassin team, played by

What's Happening with San Andreas 2?

Is San Andreas 2 still happening? Director Brad Peyton doesn’t seem totally sure, but he sounds perfectly happy to do the sequel, assuming Warner Bros. still wants to proceed with it. Peyton teamed with Dwayne Johnson for San Andreas in 2015, which wasn’t just a satisfying modern disaster movie, but a surprisingly successful one as well. With that success came the news that the studio was developing a sequel. Though, news on that front has been quiet for some time now. But Peyton gives some hope that it may still happen.

The director is currently promoting his latest collaboration with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, the video game adaptation Rampage. During a recent interview, Brad Peyton was asked if he knew what his next project was going to be, and if that project might wind up being San Andreas 2. Peyton says he would be happy to do it, but really, he just

The Rock Confirms Journey 3 Is Dead

It looks like Dwayne Johnson has managed to clear up his schedule a little bit. Unfortunately, it comes a the cost of those who wanted to see Journey 3 happen. Yes, even though the sequel has been said to be in development for quite some time, it looks like Journey 3: From the Earth to the Moon isn’t going to happen. At least not with Dwayne Johnson in it. But is Warner Bros. really going to put that franchise on another star’s shoulders? Probably not.

Dwayne Johnson is very active on social media and engages with his fans quite often. Recently, a 15-year-old fan reached out to The Rock on Twitter to ask about the status of Journey 3, which was put into development shortly after Journey 2: The Mysterious Island was released in 2012. Sadly, even though Johnson let his young fan down very easy and in a classy manner, he confirmed

Shane Black still open to Doc Savage movie with Dwayne Johnson

  • Flickeringmyth

Back in 2013, director Shane Black signed on to direct a big screen adaptation of Doc Savage, based upon Henry W. Ralston, John L. Nanovic and Lester Dent’s pulp hero of the 1930s, with Dwayne Johnson subsequently revealing in 2016 that he was set to take on the role of the Man of Bronze.

With Black currently in post-production on his latest film The Predator, Pure Grain Audio has been chatting to the director about his next project, and whether it might be the long-gestating Doc Savage movie.

“I don’t know right now because I’m busy editing Predator,” said Black. “Editing has begun, so that’s a process not of weeks, but months. Predator is still a focus and will be until November at least. Along the way, I’ll see where things land and the chips fall. We talked about Doc Savage with Dwayne Johnson, but Dwayne’s dance card is pretty full.

Are we suffering from Dwayne Johnson franchise fatigue?

  • 29 June 2017

  • Flickeringmyth

Anghus Houvouras is suffering from Dwayne Johnson franchise fatigue…

We spend so much time analyzing franchises. That’s mainly because they make up such a high percentage of blockbuster cinema. If you look at the top 10 films of 2017 globally, only two films don’t fall under the franchise tag: The Boss Baby, an animated family film that is as close to the formulaic world of franchises as any movie can get and the Japanese anime Your Name. Everything else is a franchise film fare.

While discussing the bombs of 2017, Baywatch was brought up. The film drowned quickly at the box office and was universally panned. Like any good armchair pundit, we tried to assign blame for the failure. Most attributed the failure to poor marketing or the fact that Baywatch isn’t exactly a brand that audiences were hoping to see adapted to the big screen. The more I thought about,

Dark Universe Still Wants The Rock as the Wolfman

Last June, a rumor surfaced that Universal Pictures was courting action superstar Dwayne Johnson to portray The Wolf Man in their growing monster reboot universe, which the studio revealed last week will be called Dark Universe. Between then and now, Universal hasn’t provided any updates whatsoever regarding their Wolf Man project, but a new report claims that rumors about Dwayne Johnson starring as The Wolf Man are still prevalent, although nothing is set in stone quite yet. The studio’s Dark Universe is set to launch next week with The Mummy, so it’s possible that the studio could unveil more details about this universe soon.

The Hollywood Reporter has an extensive report on the future of this Dark Universe franchise, where they mention the Dwayne Johnson rumors, although no further information is given. As of now, The Wolf Man reboot doesn’t have a release date or a director quite yet, and

Though Dwayne Johnson’s Midas touch wasn’t enough to salvage Baywatch from the murky depths of mediocrity, the former WWE superstar continues to be one of the most prolific actors in Hollywood, and one glance at his IMDb page will tell you that Johnson has filled his slate all the way into the year 2020.

From Jungle Cruise to Rampage, San Andreas 2 to the as-yet-untitled ninth installment in Universal’s Fast and Furious saga, it’s a casting docket that mixes budding franchise-starters with blockbuster sequels. But the one Dwayne Johnson project that has undoubtedly sparked a sense of enthusiasm among DC fans is Black Adam.

The actor first signed on to play the hulking anti-hero three years ago and in those intervening years, he’s been busy raising awareness for Black Adam – heck, The Rock has even gone so far as to identify who he’d like to
